Triax Garage

Triax garage started out as Triax initial forays into overseas markets in Rifts Earth and has rapidly become their and NGR’s de-facto Black Market arm. They had established contact with Lazlo and had set up shop there. Fast becoming the de-facto NGR embassy in Lazlo. They found that Lazlo was hungry for non-military tech. Household goods and luxury items. Triax had a virtually monopoly in its sphere of influence in this regard, to such an extent, that it created other companies to sell goods under a different brand. While still maintaining the luxury and prestige Triax brand intact. While Triax military hardware was greatly desired as collectors pieces with the rich and famous Lazlo citizens. The retired adventurers who retired in Lazlo desired exclusivity and personalization was a key to this. Triax quickly latched onto this opportunity, mainly because it could charge more for these items and build them in Lazlo. This became a steady stream of earning for Triax, but due to Lazlo being pacifist in outlook, Triax had difficulty in cementing large military hardware contracts with the Lazlo nation in those early days. With the Xiticixs war, things have changed in this regard. In fact Triax with the blessing of the NGR government and the go ahead of the Prosek regime supplied Lazlo with large amounts of cheap hardware to fight its war with the Xiticixs. Lazlo is now forming a formal army, and as such needs military hardware, it has finally put in formal tenders to Triax for its military projects. Triax is happy to oblige, even with CS putting pressure on the NGR government. Triax will supply this via a third party if need be.

Potentially a manufacturing powerhouse has been born in Lazlo. This new company on the face of it appears to be a wholly Lazlo home grown factory but it is a creation of Triax; and it manufacturing Triax Military hardware for Lazlo will solve a lot of diplomatic headaches for the Triax Corporation. In the long run Triax had planned for this company to manufacture its wares under licence for the Rifts North American market. This will make for cheaper products to be sold in the Americas as a lot of raw materials, labour and shipping costs incurred by Triax to ship to North America will be eliminated.

The Triax garage was the informal contact point between the NGR and Lazlo governments, and paved the way for a long mutual beneficial association between the two. Lazlo providing a safe and secure place to train and teach NGR personnel, especially in the knowledge of magic and supernatural, d-bees and demons. They also traded food and goods with each other. Triax became and still is one of the great patrons found in Lazlo for the funding of exploration expeditions. When the NGR government made contact with the CS, it broke official contact with Lazlo under CS pressure. Of course unofficially Triax is still acting as a go between the two, because the NGR needs Lazlo a lot more than Lazlo needs them. For appearances sake they had to formally close their embassy there, because they needed a treaty with the CS. This has made the Triax garage’s role in Lazlo pivotal and Triax even more influential in NGR.

In Lazlo Triax found a lot of people willing to risk their own lives trying to explore the world and help the innocents. These would be heroes were always hungry for equipment and assistance. They would be going to places where Triax wanted to be, but where Triax would attract unwanted attention, these so called adventurers could go unhindered, without anyone the wiser. Letting someone else face the danger and you reap the benefits, seemed ideal. After all these young guns were mainly interested in fame and glory, this they got in bucket loads if they ever returned. It seemed an ideal partnership for a wealthy patron to fund these expeditions. Something that large amounts of powerful people and organisations in Lazlo were doing and Triax naturally joined in. In exchange for providing logistical support, Triax garage guided the young and naïve adventurers to areas of interest to the Triax Corporation.

This was how Triax corporations searched for lost technology and resources, hidden from its competitor’s eyes. Triax sent many Voyager missions and other adventurers from Lazlo to do archaeological digs in Rifts North America. Many of these were to the sites of its Prerifts R&D and manufacturing plants. Not just that, but Triax even new the locations of these types of facilities for its now extinct Golden Age rivals.

Triax quietly collected this lost knowledge from the successful voyager missions. Of course for every successful voyager mission, how many failed. Have many naïve young men and women, who believed anything was possible, didn’t return, or if they did, how many returned the same good decent people that went out on these adventures. The Lazlo voyager missions didn’t just explore Rifts North America, but the world and some were even sent across the Megaverse, and the Triax garage was and still is one of the leading patrons of these expeditions. To fund a mission in Rifts North America, is logistically difficult and you are taking a huge risk on your investment, let alone the risks involved in sending missions across the world, or the rare excursions through the stable rifts, that the Terminex finds.

The Triax Garage in Lazlo became so successful for the Triax Corporation, that it has become its model for all its other forays into the unknown. It has established a Triax Garage in New Camelot and Chitown. Many others are set up temporarily in areas where Triax needs to study, thus allowing the local recruiting for adventurers, making logistics easier. The Triax Garage based in Lazlo now acts as an overseer for Triax’s unofficial operations. Many temporary Triax garages get set up in the Chitown burbs, exchanging owners as rapidly as the gang turf its on changes its owners. The Triax garage is usually found in the tech area of the city it is based in, usually a single street or market area.

To have a Triax Garage on your turf, is great kudos for the black market gangs and Black market bosses. It is one of the few places that don’t get touched in gang warfare. This is one of the unwritten rules in the Black Market game that everyone should be aware of, because the penalties for breaking it, even for the Black Market bosses aren’t worth contemplating.

Anyone breaking this rule becomes a pariah, and is dealt with great prejudice by all the black market gangs. For one irritating Triax is not a good idea, they hit you really hard where it hurts, especially if they loose out on a deal that they spent time and resources setting up. Secondly having Triax on your turf, means you get more people coming to your area and spending money. Triax sells through you and you get good deals on their extremely desirable hardware. If you annoy Triax, you loose out in more ways than one. Triax garage moves out, and they don’t sell their hardware to you at preferred prices. When a rival gang takes over an area where the Triax garage is, the Triax garage reverts to the new bosses, usually under the same terms that the previous gang had. Many gangs are just glad to have it on their turf, and as such any deal offered by Triax is acceptable.

From the Triax Garage, would be adventurers are screened and only those that prove loyal are taken on. Low level characters will get basic support, gradually getting more logistical support on their expeditions as they proof they loyalty. It maybe a group who has worked with Triax garage for a while (7th level and above adventuring group) will be started to be taken into confidence and will know what Triax may want to achieve from the expedition or mission it has sent you on.

New would be heroes (1-3rd level) may not even realize that they are working for Triax. These heroes are unlikely to get much logistical or equipment assistance. Bring your own is the name of the game at this stage.  These groups are sent to already secured areas. They do the basic missions, missions that it is cheaper to hit someone than send one of your own. It is very rare that these groups will find anything useful. However as they are complete “clean skins” sending them into the unknown is a great option. If these groups do manage to return from such a mission, then the return for Triax could be very great indeed. Groups that may have survived these initial “test” missions they have been sent on, for that is what they are, because it is on such missions that Triax assess the potential of these new recruits.

A group of adventurers may only be officially told they are working for Triax when Triax has noticed they can be trusted and appear to be a capable lot (3-6th level). At this stage they will be doing reconnoitre missions, scouting and guarding missions, that assist Triax, but are jobs where secrecy isn’t the be all and end all.

It is only when a group has proven themselves in the eyes of Triax (6th level or above) that Triax gives them the really covert missions, where secrecy is important, and the efficiency of the group is really needed. A group being able to work on their own initiative are a necessity and of course the loyalty of the group should not be in doubt. At this stage Triax will start to provide logistical and equipment support as a norm. A player group could be given newly developed tech to use if the need arises. These groups do the majority of the serious covert operations, and sometimes are there to bail the newer recruits out. Usually though the newer recruits play the role of cannon fodder, distract the enemy, while these groups do the serious work.

The person has become a fixture in the Triax Garage (9th level or above), the group is given new prototype equipment for testing and usage.  At this stage the group will run the lesser recruits for the Triax garage, they have to set up the operations and if need be provide logistical support. It is these operatives that will bail newer recruits out if they get in trouble, or protect Triax interests. At this a person or group will be able to set up new Triax Garages in new territories.

For a long while the Triax garage had a virtually monopoly in its covert R&D projects in Rifts North America. There was very little competition from its potential rivals, but over the last few years its rivals have cottoned onto what Triax has been doing. These rivals, like the CS, NG, Bandito Arms to name a few, have also now started applying similar tactics to get ahead. They to have started to use would be adventurers to find new opportunities for them. You could say the Triax Garage has become a victim of its own success. Fierce competitions will now arise for researching into similar areas, and to preserve the covert nature of an adventurer group’s true mission will become a major priority. They will surely be urged to swap sides, either by inducements or threats. Rival groups may well look into similar areas of Rifts North America. The battles behind the scenes between the rival corporations in these types of ventures may well be fought by the would be heroes.

The Triax Garage is a hard taskmaster but in the end it is one of the best patrons for an up and coming heroic group to have. It is better to have them on your side, then against you.

Player characters are very unlikely to hear of these things that the Triax Garage is involved in, even if they are a city rat with streetwise skill at 98%, in fact the great majority of people will have no clue about some of these activities. The most sensitive of this information may only be revealed on a need to know bases, some of these activities may be carried out under a totally different guise and only at the last minute will the true mission be revealed if the need arises.

1)     In Lazlo Triax has heard that Zerustrun, the Gargoyle Empire’s Emperor, maybe a demon lord who works for Modeus. They would like to confirm this one way or another. This news of Zerustrun being in Europe, has not go down well with some of the Megaversal powers that have a covert presence in Lazlo for the latest happenings on Rifts Earth. These powers too are very keen to confirm this rumour one way or another. For if it is true then Modeus has out manoeuvred his rivals once again. This news if true will send shock waves throughout the Megaverse, and it will mean the start of the end for Rifts earth. The other Megaversal powers had been waiting for Modeus to make his move, and now they too will begin their moves in earnest. Rifts Earth is up for grabs and now some of the big boys may come out to play in its arena. Another thing that could happen is that Lord Splynncrythh is allied to the Gargoyles of Europe and if this rumour is true, then it means that he is allied to Modeus and had has been getting help from Modeus. It will explain his rapid rise through the ranks of the Splugorth Lords. The Splugorth Lords will not be pleased with him if this is true. The Splugorths Lords avoid getting entangled with Supernatural Intelligences, who can run rings around them. It is said that the most powerful of them, Lord Krygoth, had his tentacles handed to him on a plate, after he tried to take on a Supernatural Intelligence. Voyager missions are likely to be sent forth from Lazlo to the Gargoyle Empire to confirm this.

2)     Triax has learnt that the Brodkil from Robot Control, survived the CS led onslaught on Robot Control. He escaped and recovered in the Magic Zone with the help from the Federation of Magic. More likely he obtained assistance from the Blood Druids that are found there. It seems that he is currently looking to return to Europe, and have is weapons and armour repaired. Triax wanted him tailed as it may lead them to the place where the Paris Gargoyles got all their tech from. Tailing him will be difficult and dangerous, if it wasn’t Triax would have used more conventional means to do so. It is likely he will use either pirates or the Splugorthian Navy for this journey, or get to Europe via Atlantis. The knowledge of where he got is advanced tech from would be greatly appreciated by Triax and the NGR government. It may help them to say a live in the long run.

3)     Triax has learnt in Lazlo that the “Seekers” are used mainly by Naruni Enterprises. There being a large amount in the Black Forest, Triax believes that they could be escapees from an abandoned or fallen Naruni Enterprises outpost in the Black Forest, or there could be a portal in the Black Forest linking to such a facility of Naruni Enterprises on another world. Triax would like these rumours confirmed or denied; and if true to see if they can salvage any of the Naruni Enterprises technology or resources left behind. Clearly from the release of the Seekers, Naruni Enterprises abandoned such a facility if it exists fairly rapidly. The question arises what or who could make Naruni Enterprises abandoned a facility with such haste, that leave one of their most valuable commodities behind, or do such actions show Naruni’s Enterprises true face.

4)     The Triax Garage in Lazlo has heard that their Columbia Mining ventures have hit a snag, maybe of the fanged variety. They would like someone capable to identify the problem, and to deal with it. The Columbia government and Triax have reached an agreement whereby Triax is able to extract resources from mines in the mountains for a small fee. Triax has to provide security and miners and such things, but for this it is given a free hand to mine and explore the Columbian wilderness. Unfortunately the mines Triax uses are a far way from the control of the Columbia government, and the security is a big problem. Especially with the rumours that there are vampires in them there hills. Dwarves make up much of the mining community, and they and the other miners say something is down there in there mines, which doesn’t want the mining to continue. Triax also needs security to establish a secure beachhead near the mines for its planes to land, so that resources can be exported. To truly get shipments out it needs to secure river and seaports. Security is a serious problem for Triax, the mines and the resource convoys constantly get raided, once the ships are out to sea, they have to get through the pirate coasts. All these things need serious military escorts, with NGR on the other side of the ocean. Triax is hiring people to do these jobs for it in Columbia. The resources these mines provide need to get to the NGR one way or another, because NGR desperately needs them.

5)     Triax for a long while has wanted to send expeditions to the west coast of North America, to look for signs of its facilities and factories along the western seaboard of North America. Many of its rival corporations also had such factories in this region as well. What stopped it from sending large scale exploration teams to this area was the great distance involved from Lazlo, and the hostile nature of the terrain from Lazlo to the western coast. It had to carry out all the logistics involved without attracting the attention of its rivals. Over the last few years it has managed to send small teams of explorers and adventurers there. It believes it has found a potential hi-tech “facility” on the western coast. Triax would like this rumour confirmed one way or another, if it is true then the facility to be thoroughly searched, and if anything useful is found for it to be brought back to Lazlo without any of its rivals finding out. The drawback is that these rumours are the ravings of a returned voyager, who had clearly gone mad, and who died soon after making it back to Lazlo. No one knows whether she was talking about a prerifts facility or a newly built facility. She didn’t even confirm if it was inhabited or abandoned, suffice it to say whatever she found there may have been the cause of her madness and eventual death. The exact location is unknown, but her journals of the journey may well proof priceless in the correct hands. Unfortunately Triax doesn’t have that journal. Triax would first like her journal retrieved and put safely in their hands without attracting any attention, if at all possible.

6)     Triax would like to send a team to Splynn Dimensional Market and set up a stall selling Triax wares there. Of course this is easier said than done, but Triax needs new markets and to gather intelligence on what help Atlantis is giving to the its Gargoyle enemies. Atlantis already sells fabricated Triax hardware, so Triax may as well sell there. Many fabricated hardware of Rifts Earth is sold in Splynn. The group has to be pretty powerful and need to be self sufficient to be able to sell in such a hostile environment. It mostly needs to be composed of non-humans of the non-squishy variety as the juicers would say. It is likely a permit to sell Triax goods in a shop in the Splynn Dimensional Market can be obtained, if the shop is held by a third party, rather than be an out an out Triax shop. There are powerful merchants who frequent Lazlo, who could be persuaded one way or another to branch out in Triax hardware and employ a small group of people to work for them on their stall/shop in Splynn. First you need to find such a merchant, and then persuade them to work with you. In Lazlo Triax has learnt of the Slave Liberation group, who may well provide assistance if the group gets into difficulty and the group has been able to make contact with them. Making contact with such a group is a   priority as this maybe the only way for the group to extricate themselves from such a hostile environment once they get into trouble. However purpose of this venture is not to sell hardware, but to establish contacts with merchants who may want to trade with NGR or Lazlo, and above all gather intelligence on what and how Atlantis is helping the Gargoyle Empire. Lord Splynncrytth reaction to this will vary, but he will treat it as another game to play with the humans. He may well expand this venture of Triax into others of interest to him. Maybe sell to NGR via a interdimensional merchant intermediary, it is in his interest to prolong the NGR’s war with the Demonic Empire of Europe. With NGR on the brink, it is about time he supported them.

7)     Triax is looking for its soldiers that deserted their post in Dresden when the Monster Nation attacked the Eastern Front. Many have been caught by the NGR security forces but some escaped. They appear to have scattered to the four corners of the world and possibly beyond that as well. The great majority of them have headed to Rifts North America, because it is far enough away from the NGR sphere of influence and there is plenty of work for mercenaries there. It is imperative that that Triax finds these people with minimum fuss. Not only did they desert and jeopardise the NGR population, but they escaped with a great deal of the NGR’s military hardware that was based in Dresden. Some of this hardware has never been put on the open market and was solely for the use by the NGR army. They may even have escaped with a few of the New Triax inventions and war machines that had been brought online before the recent round of conflicts. These soldiers will be in high demand because they are highly trained and have the use of cutting edge technology and equipment. Some of the pieces of technology they could have on them will never have been seen in Rifts North America. Therefore if they do surface they will be highly visible. Triax wants them taken out before they manage to embed themselves into the fabric of Rifts North American life. It would be unfortunate if this group of soldiers managed to join other mercenary groups or nations on Rifts Earth. This would make taking them out much more difficult. A really bad situation would be if they were able to establish themselves as a mercenary group in Rifts North America because they would be difficult to kill.  Also their use of Triax equipment will become this mercenary company’s signature. If this happens then Triax hard won reputation in Rifts North America will be ruined, because as their desertion and stealing of NGR hardware has shown, these soldiers aren’t the most benevolent of people, and as such this mercenary group is unlikely to be involved in charity work and doing good deeds. Triax is especially keen to get holds on the mastermind of this escapade, reputed to be a highly experienced and powerful Cro Demon Mage (2D6 million credits have been put on him by Triax). He or she must be powerful as they managed to run a Black market operation territory within a NGR city and then cause virtually an entire city’s defence force to go AWOL with their equipment and military stocks in storage. All this happened when the NGR was at the greatest risk of destruction, almost as it was planned by the enemies of NGR. Triax will of course provide the necessary information, and is actively collecting all pertinent information about their activities and whereabouts, immaterial of how insignificant the information is, because every little scrap of information could potentially lead the NGR to these AWOL soldiers.  Triax and the NGR government will not rest until all responsible for this treasonous act are brought to account. A lot of NGR citizens were killed and the very existence of NGR was put into question by this act by this group of soldiers, something NGR can’t let go without an answer. The Triax garage is the long arm of its vengeance in this issue.

8)     Triax is looking for a Deathweaver who goes by the name of Bokken. They want him alive. It is said when the NGR was going toe to toe with the Monster Nations in the recent round of conflicts, Bokken managed to steal the Maisies technology. They believe he has headed for Rifts North America. Triax believes he was originally from the Middle East, who arrived in the NGR via the Silk road and then joining one of the Gypsy caravans that go to and fro between the lands of the Russian Warlords and the NGR. It is assumed that he is on the run from the Middle East as well. He is one of the best at what he does (9th level Deathweaver RCC), and what he does is retrieval of goods at the right price, in other words cat burglary. He has turned this into an art form. There are rumours in Lazlo that the REAL CS vault is going to be hit. If Bokken is about then he is likely to do it, he is quite capable of successfully pulling this off, as his actions in the NGR have shown. There is also talk on the streets that someone his hiring people to hit the REAL CS vault. Who could be powerful and rich enough to gather together a group of experts that could pull such a heist remains a mystery, and of course why they would do this will only be revealed to this elite teams members, if and when they are going to do this hit.

9)     The recent round of conflicts has left many orphans in Rifts North America. The Triax Garage in Lazlo wants to play its part like many other citizens of Lazlo are doing and take in these orphans. They need people to go to these far flung places and bring the survivors to Lazlo. Reports from all over North America are coming in of refugees on the march; they need protection to get them to safety. Many heroes have set out from Lazlo to protect these victims of war and lead them to safety, but more are needed. Triax Garage is just one of the power players in Lazlo that has offered to take in orphans and refugees and is hiring would be heroes to go and save these innocents. Over a period of time it may become apparent to the player group or other forces in Lazlo that the Triax Garage is mainly taking in children under the age of seven. The amount of children over the age of seven and other refugees it has taken in is miniscule. Looking further into this, it will be revealed that the children under seven have been sent to the NGR. Triax Garage claims it is taking the burden of Lazlo for looking after all these refugees by sending them to the NGR, which is a much safer place than North America. It may become apparent that the great proportion of children Triax has taken in, are D-bee children and most of the children seven or over are still in Lazlo.
